Since my childhood to the present time, I’ve tasted so many of cuisines. Although, sometimes my experience was not up to mark as the taste was not as per my expectation, but most of the time, it was impressive and I was over the moon.

Well, today I would like to talk about such a wonderful food/ unusual food/ cultural food/ dessert/ dish that people eat on special events, that I had ever tasted and that is none other than “RICE PUDDING”.

If I talk about it briefly, this scrumptious cultural food is made by all the Punjabi families on the occasion of “VAISAKHI”, where Vaisakhi marks the harvest season, especially for wheat, but rice is also harvested.

Rice pudding is made from:

Rice, milk and sugar, which represents prosperity. It is a sweet dish and its Punjabi name is “KHEER”.

If I talk about its recipe, firstly rice is thoroughly washed/cleaned into water and then it pours into the boiling milk. In last step sugar is added into it. And then this homogeneous mixture is further heated until it becomes a creamy texture. And then this dessert is ready to serve.

When it comes to the question why I like this food so much then the main reason is its unique taste and the Punjabi culture behind it. Moreover, this dish reminds me the celebrations of family gatherings.
